Dr. Sagar Vivek Kakatkar is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in Nashik. Dr. Kakatkar specialises in surgeries of Shoulder, Knee, Foot, Ankle and Elbow surgeries. He is known for Arthroscopy i.e. Key-hole surgeries of the joints used for Joint Preservation and is also trained in Advance Joint Replacement Surgeries i.e. Computer Navigated Joint Replacement Surgeries.
Dr. Sagar Kakatkar did his M.B.B.S. from Wardha, Maharashtra. And passed with distinction in Surgery. He subsequently completed his D-Ortho from Mumbai under the guidance of Dr. Danani and Dr. N. Antao and Dr. Vijay Kakatkar in Nasik. Later on, he completed his M.S. orthopaedics from Dr. VPMCH Nashik. Dr. Sagar Kakatkar was ranked 2nd in University while completing his M.S. During his post-graduation he developed keen interest in Joint Preservation and Arthroscopic surgeries.
Post his M.S., Dr. Sagar did his fellowship in Arthroscopy & Joint Replacement surgery from ISAKOS approved centre i.e. Orthopaedic Speciality Clinic, Pune under the guidance of Dr. Sachin Tapasvi. Dr. Tapasvi is one of the best Arthroscopy and Arthroplasty Surgeon across the globe.


While working with Dr. Tapasvi, Dr. Sagar also could meet and work with few other stalwarts in the field such as Prof. Strobel, Prof. Charles Brown.

Dr. Sagar subsequently got selected for the prestigious Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA) Fellowship in Shoulder, Elbow & Knee surgeries in Sydney, Australia. In Australia he worked as a fellow with Dr. Jonathan Herald who is one of the best orthopaedic surgeon in Australia. He attended several international meetings while in Australia and presented various papers in the meetings. He co-authored several publications with Dr. Herald in various publications and even wrote a book chapters about the knee pathologies.

Dr. Sagar Kakatkar was the first Indian selected for training in U.S. Olympic Association Hospital, Colorado, USA where he trained with the experts like Prof. Robert LaParde to do complex & revision knee surgeries and also could learn from Prof. Peter Millet, Prof. Provencher and Prof. Mark Phillipon. Working in a US Olympic association hospital helped him gain detailed knowledge of the sports injuries and sports medicine.

Prof. Marcus Schibel from Berlin, Germany guided Dr. Sagar to learn the complex and revision shoulder arthroscopy and joint replacement surgeries. Dr. Sagar could study in one of the finest university hospitals In Germany i.e. Charite University Hospital, Berlin.
Dr. Kakatkar has developed special techniques for arthroscopic fracture fixations. In selected cases primary fractures and even revision fracture surgeries can be done arthroscopically. Arthroscopic adhesiolysis techniques have helped a lot many of patients with stiff elbows, stiff ankles.
Dr. Sagar has been very active member of scientific and social organizations. He had been Nashik Orthopaedic Society Secretary for the year 2018-19. He has been a part of executive committee of Maharashtra Orthopaedic Association (MOA). He was one of the members of IMA voice committee for the year 2018-19. He has been actively involved in cultural activities conducted by IMA and other organizations. He has done his Sangeet Visharad and has also participated in sports activities like Volleyball on State Level.
